Dartmoor Tree Surgeons was started in 1987 by Graham Joyce, and he is still our managing director today. Named in honour of Devon’s own Dartmoor, Graham’s love of the outdoors and all things wild has informed our practice since our inception, inspiring us to work with the maximum consideration for our environment and to keep as up to date with our practices and training as possible, in order to be sure that we are working in a way which is most beneficial for the landscape.

Over the years we have expanded from the original one-man band to a thriving tree surgery practice and sister consultancy company. Our purpose-built office is on the outskirts of Woodbury, in East Devon, where we also have a large yard capable of storing and recycling all the woodchip and timber arising from our tree surgery operations. We are proud to have been an Arboricultural Association Approved Contractor since 2003 - a real testament to the efforts made by the entire team every day.

We always work to the BS3998 standard and are proud to consider tree care our main role - it is always a pleasure to work with trees in such a way as to promote their health, longevity and value within an ecosystem! Our staff are experienced and highly trained with all relevant qualifications and tickets and are regularly encouraged to increase their skills and knowledge through company funded continued professional development. We hold our subcontractors to the same high standards as our own team and only work with companies and individuals in whom we hold the utmost confidence.
